According to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! there are around 400 Nissan Leafs on the island. I've seen them everywhere !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Getting sushi found us peering at these two topping off their charge. If we're going to have EVs, then this type of infrastructure is going to be a must. One thing sort of jumped out at me though: what about those cords laying all over, imagine the tripping hazards. Moreover, what about folks in wheelchairs? The EV plot thickens.

I think it's pretty great that Maui is taking to EVs. It makes sense and what better environment than an island to hammer out the issues than on an island? Of course if you can't get access to a charger there are other options.

10/10 for the idea and for taking initiative, 2/10 for implementation. If they wanted to do it properly, they would have to put a pylon in front of each parking space, that way the cables don't have to run across the walkway. I'm surprised the Occupational health and safety nannies didn't squelch that one...
Also, seeing as 90% of Maui's power comes from Diesel Generators, I'm not sure if this is all that much "greener" than a clean diesel or high efficiency petrol engine... But we need to start somewhere!
